Uttar Pradesh Women Welfare Department Launches Month-Long Navratri Campaign
The Department of Women Welfare in Uttar Pradesh is set to launch a comprehensive month-long campaign under Mission Shakti, commencing on March 21, to coincide with the Navratri festival celebrations. This initiative aims to empower women and children across the state by providing crucial information about their rights, safety protocols, and available government schemes.
Direct Outreach Through Mobile Vans and Information Stalls
Director of the Women Welfare Department, Vandana Verma, announced that the campaign will establish direct interaction with women and children through mobile vans and strategically placed information stalls at public venues. These outreach efforts are designed to bridge the gap between government services and the community, ensuring that vital support systems are accessible to those in need.
Focus on Domestic Violence, Safety Rights, and Support Systems
The campaign will prioritize educating participants on critical issues such as domestic violence, personal safety rights, and the various support mechanisms available. Verma emphasized that this initiative will raise awareness about multiple government schemes, including:
- CM Kanya Sumangala Yojana: A financial assistance program for the welfare of girl children.
- Beti Bachao Beti Padhao: A national campaign to save and educate the girl child.
- One Stop Centres: Facilities providing integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence.
- 181 Women Helpline: A toll-free emergency service for women in distress.
- 1098 Child Helpline: A dedicated helpline for children requiring assistance or reporting abuse.
- CM Bal Seva Yojana: A scheme aimed at the welfare and protection of children.
Additionally, the campaign will disseminate information about services available for distressed women, ensuring they know where to turn for help in times of crisis. This proactive approach is expected to enhance community resilience and foster a safer environment for women and children throughout Uttar Pradesh.
