In a significant move to enhance public health services, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has issued firm directives for the comprehensive upgrading of infrastructure and basic facilities across government hospitals. During a high-level review meeting held on Friday at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida, Pathak emphasized that negligence in healthcare delivery will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Review Meeting Focuses on Three Key Divisions
The review session specifically concentrated on the healthcare systems within the Meerut, Moradabad, and Saharanpur divisions. Deputy CM Pathak stated unequivocally that providing quality healthcare services remains the government's foremost priority. He instructed officials to implement immediate and tangible improvements in patient care services across all medical units.
Comprehensive Infrastructure and Facility Upgrades Mandated
Pathak outlined a detailed list of requirements for hospital enhancement, including:
- Substantial improvements to hospital infrastructure and physical facilities
- Clear and visible signage throughout all medical facilities
- Proper display of citizen charters outlining patient rights and services
- Enhanced cleanliness standards and sanitation protocols
- Uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water for patients and staff
- Establishment of night shelters for patient attendants
- Adequate availability of essential medicines and pharmaceuticals
- Medical equipment that meets established quality standards
Critical Medical Services and Equipment Requirements
The Deputy Chief Minister placed particular emphasis on several crucial medical services, demanding that officials ensure:
- MRI and ICU facilities in all district hospitals must be maintained in proper working condition at all times
- Health ATMs installed across districts must remain fully functional
- CT scan and dialysis services require strengthening and expansion
- All emergency ambulances must undergo verification of operational readiness
Fire safety measures received special attention, with Pathak mandating the installation of fire extinguishers and conducting regular safety audits across all healthcare facilities.
Administrative and Programmatic Directives
Beyond physical infrastructure, Pathak issued several administrative instructions, including:
- Enhanced monitoring of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (health and wellness centers)
- Requirement for all hospital staff to wear proper uniforms while on duty

The current review follows an extensive inspection campaign conducted from February 6-8, where 117 teams examined 2,437 medical units across 14 districts within the three divisions. The inspection covered a wide spectrum of healthcare facilities including:

- Primary Health Centers (PHCs)
- Ayushman Arogya Mandirs
- Specialized hospitals
- Medical colleges
- Arogya Melas (health fairs)
