Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Unveils 99-Day Praja Palana Digital Governance Initiative

In a significant move to revolutionize public service delivery, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Saturday the launch of a comprehensive 99-day programme titled Praja Palana-Pragati Pranalika. This initiative, scheduled to run from March 6 to June 19, aims to bring welfare schemes and development plans directly to the citizens, leveraging technology to simplify and enhance accessibility.

Focus on Digital Transformation and Citizen Convenience

During a high-level review meeting attended by Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries of all departments, and DGP Shivadhar Reddy, CM Revanth Reddy emphasized the government's commitment to making governance more people-centric. He stated, "Be it welfare schemes, civic services, permissions for electricity meters, building construction approvals, drinking water connections, or any other such service, the people should be able to access them online from the comfort of their homes." The CM highlighted that the Congress-led government will implement radical reforms in service delivery by harnessing advanced technological solutions.

Establishment of Special Committee for Technological Reforms

To ensure effective implementation of these digital initiatives, CM Revanth Reddy announced the formation of a special committee headed by senior IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan. This committee is tasked with overseeing technological reforms across all government departments. The CM directed the committee to submit its detailed report within three weeks, stressing the urgency of updating outdated data servers to be future-proof for the next two decades. He added, "Every department must adopt this office system and digital governance framework to streamline operations and improve efficiency."

Enhancing Transparency and Welfare Scheme Implementation

CM Revanth Reddy underscored the importance of transparency in government processes, advocating for a system where applicants can easily track the status of their files. He insisted on strict implementation of welfare schemes, with technology playing a pivotal role. Key schemes mentioned include:

  • Ration cards
  • 500 gas cylinders
  • Free electricity up to 200 units
  • Aarogyasri health insurance
  • Indiramma houses for those without homes on their own land

The CM emphasized that the application process for ration cards should be continuous and seamless, ensuring no eligible individual is left out.

Additional Directives and Monitoring Mechanisms

In addition to digital reforms, CM Revanth Reddy directed the Chief Secretary to design a special logo for the 99-day programme to symbolize its mission. He also called for a sanitation and hygiene drive to be undertaken by all departments during this period, promoting holistic development. The CM warned that any shortcomings in officer performance would not be tolerated, and he pledged to personally monitor the progress of the programme through regular reviews to ensure accountability and success.
