Rajasthan PHED to Introduce Centralized Water Billing Portal on April 1
In a significant move to modernize water billing operations, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) in Rajasthan is set to launch a centralized PHED Billing Engine Portal on April 1. This initiative aims to establish a unified and standardized system for water billing across the entire state, as confirmed by officials in Jaipur.
Enhanced Consumer Access and Transparency
The new portal will empower consumers statewide by providing easy access to their current and past PHED bills, along with detailed profiles of their water connections. Additionally, users will be able to pay their bills directly through the platform, streamlining the entire process.
An official emphasized that the system will make the billing process faster and more transparent, enabling the generation of water bills in near real-time, similar to electricity distribution companies. For services such as duplicate bills or bill rectifications, consumers can now apply through this portal, reducing bureaucratic hurdles.
Development and Management Details
The portal is being developed by AU Bank as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Another official highlighted that the portal will strengthen transparency and efficiency in billing operations. The overall functionality and operations of the portal will be managed by RWSCC, ensuring robust oversight and maintenance.
This launch marks a pivotal step towards improving public service delivery in Rajasthan, aligning with broader efforts to enhance digital governance and consumer convenience in utility management.
