PSPCL Junior Engineer Faces Fraud Charges in Rs 12.25 Lakh Scandal
A significant case of financial misconduct has emerged involving a Junior Engineer (JE) from the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), with allegations of fraud amounting to lakhs of rupees. Following the discovery of these irregularities, a departmental inquiry was launched, culminating in the registration of a formal fraud case against the official.
Complaint and Investigation Details
The case was initiated based on a complaint filed by the Assistant Accounts Officer stationed at the Agar Nagar division of PSPCL. According to the complaint, JE Bikkar Singh failed to provide any accounting records or documentation for a total sum of approximately Rs 12,25,669 during the period spanning from 2023 to 2024.
Authorities reported that Singh was repeatedly requested, through both written notices and verbal reminders, to present the necessary accounts. However, he consistently evaded these requests, raising suspicions of foul play. This led to the initiation of a departmental probe, which subsequently resulted in a formal police complaint being lodged.
Police Action and Ongoing Probe
Based on the complaint, Police Division 5 registered the case and has commenced a thorough investigation into the matter. PSPCL officials have indicated that they anticipate further revelations as the probe progresses, suggesting that the full extent of the financial irregularities may not yet be uncovered.
The incident highlights concerns over accountability and corruption within public sector entities. It underscores the importance of stringent financial oversight and the need for robust mechanisms to prevent such malpractices in government-run organizations.
This development serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat corruption and ensure transparency in public administration. The case is expected to be closely monitored as investigations continue to unfold, potentially implicating other individuals or revealing additional discrepancies.
