Odisha Kicks Off Census 2027 with House Listing Phase Across All Districts
In a significant national initiative, the first phase of Census 2027, focusing on house listing and housing census, is set to commence across all 30 districts of Odisha starting April 16. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made the official announcement on Friday, calling upon citizens to actively participate in this crucial exercise.
Coordinated Efforts and Field Operations
The census operation is being conducted in close coordination with the Census Directorate under the Ministry of Home Affairs, alongside the state's Revenue and Disaster Management Department. Trained enumerators and supervisors will be deployed to visit households from April 16 to May 15 to collect detailed data, ensuring a comprehensive survey of residential properties throughout the state.
Self-Enumeration Portal Available for Public Use
Ahead of the field survey, a self-enumeration facility has been introduced, allowing residents to provide their details online. This portal will be accessible to the public from April 1 until midnight on April 15. Chief Minister Majhi highlighted this digital option, stating, "Those who have not yet provided their details are requested to do so through the portal. I have completed my self-enumeration and encourage everyone to follow the same."
Importance of Accurate Data for Development
Emphasizing the critical role of the census, Majhi explained that the data collected will be instrumental in planning and implementing welfare schemes and development programmes at both state and national levels. Accurate information is essential for effective governance and resource allocation, making public cooperation vital for the success of this initiative.
Appeal for Public Cooperation and Government Preparedness
From April 16 onward, enumerators will conduct personal visits to homes to gather information. The Chief Minister made a heartfelt appeal to citizens, urging them to provide accurate details and cooperate fully with officials during these visits. He assured that the state government has completed all necessary preparations for a smooth execution of the programme. "Our government has completed all preparations for the smooth conduct of this programme. I sincerely request the people of Odisha to extend their cooperation and help make this important national initiative a success," Majhi stated.
This phase marks a pivotal step in the Census 2027 process, with Odisha leading the way in data collection efforts to support future developmental strategies.
