NTR District Collector Calls for Public Participation in Online Census Self-Enumeration

In Vijayawada, NTR District Collector Dr G Lakshmisha has made a strong appeal to all citizens to actively engage in the upcoming population census for the district. He emphasized the importance of participating in the self-enumeration exercise by filling in personal details online through the official website se.census.gov.in, which is scheduled to go live starting Thursday.

First-Time Introduction of Self-Enumeration Facility

Addressing a press conference held at the district collectorate on Wednesday, Lakshmisha highlighted that the self-enumeration facility is being introduced for the very first time as an integral part of the census process. This innovative initiative is designed to ensure more accurate data collection while simultaneously encouraging greater public involvement and participation from the community.

Benefits of Online Submission and Verification Process

Citizens are encouraged to submit their details conveniently online via the official portal se.census.gov.in. According to officials, this digital approach will significantly help in saving valuable time and minimizing potential errors that can occur during traditional data collection methods. The Collector further explained that the information entered by individuals will be subject to later verification by enumerators during subsequent field visits, thereby making the entire census process more streamlined and efficient.

Comprehensive Data Collection and Outreach Campaign

The self-enumeration module allows residents to voluntarily provide information across 34 different parameters. These include essential household details such as:

  • Building number
  • Number of family members
  • Ownership status of the property
  • Access to drinking water facilities
  • Availability of internet and television services

As part of a comprehensive outreach strategy, the district administration has planned an extensive 15-day awareness campaign targeting various sections of society. Public representatives, including ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and local body representatives, are scheduled to participate actively in the drive on April 16. This will be followed by the involvement of government staff at multiple levels on April 17.

Coordination and Media Support for Campaign Success

The collector stated that all relevant departments have been directed to coordinate effectively to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the campaign. He also underscored the critical importance of media support in spreading awareness about the census initiative. Lakshmisha urged citizens to participate in large numbers to make the programme a resounding success, contributing to accurate demographic data for the region.
