Residents and business owners in the vicinity of the Bhangel elevated road have issued a stern warning to the Noida Authority, threatening to launch a major agitation if immediate steps are not taken to establish a proper parking facility beneath the flyover. The persistent absence of designated parking bays has severely hampered access to the bustling Bhangel market, leading to a noticeable drop in customer footfall and creating immense frustration among local stakeholders.
Formal Complaint and Legal Threat Lodged
The Noida Village Residents Association has escalated the matter by submitting a formal written complaint to the Noida Authority. In their letter, the association has clearly stated that they will pursue all available legal avenues if the authority continues to neglect this critical infrastructure need. The Bhangel-Salarpur market is recognized as one of the largest and most significant rural markets in the Noida region, serving numerous nearby sectors and villages. For years, residents and traders have consistently demanded the creation of a dedicated parking space under the 4.5-kilometer-long Bhangel Elevated Road. This facility is seen as essential to alleviate the chronic traffic congestion and to provide vital support to local markets in Barola, Salarpur, and Bhangel. However, the intended space remains illegally occupied by unauthorized vendors and hawkers, exacerbating the problem.
Businesses Suffering Severe Losses
Local trader Raj Singh highlighted the dire economic consequences in an interview last November, revealing that the number of visitors and buyers has plummeted dramatically over recent years. He attributed this sharp decline primarily to the deplorable condition of the DSC Road, which runs directly below the flyover, compounded by the complete lack of organized parking. This dual issue has made market access exceedingly difficult for potential customers.
Ranjan Tomar, President of the Noida Village Residents Association, emphasized the urgency, stating, “If the parking facility is not constructed without further delay, local businesses will face severe and potentially irreversible repercussions.” The situation has been worsened by the installation of road dividers in Barola, which have further reduced the already limited parking options. Now, the Salarpur and Bhangel neighborhoods are confronting similar threats to their commercial viability.
