NMC Chairman Praises SVIMS University Services

Dr. Abhijat Chandrakant Sheth, Chairman of the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, commended the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS University), run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), for its role as a major healthcare provider and its pioneering contributions to medical education and research. Speaking as the chief guest at the 14th convocation of SVIMS University in Tirupati on Friday, he congratulated the graduating medical students, describing their achievement as a crucial milestone in their lives. He urged them to seize every opportunity to serve society and provide the best possible care to the underprivileged.

SVIMS: A Vision Realized

TTD Executive Officer M. Ravichandra recalled the institution's origin in 1993, conceived by then Chief Minister Late N.T. Rama Rao to deliver quality healthcare to the common man. He noted that SVIMS continues to be a top-tier institution, having received accreditations from NABH, NABL, and Nursing Excellence.

Additional Funding and Recognition

SVIMS Director and Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.V. Kumar highlighted the hospital's location at the foot of the Tirumala hills, which provides mental strength and comfort to hundreds of daily patients. He thanked the TTD management for allocating an additional Rs. 60 crore to the hospital. At the convocation, 548 students received their degrees, and 16 meritorious students were awarded gold medals.

Other dignitaries present included NTR University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor Dr. P. Chandrasekhar and SVIMS governing council member Dr. N. Sadashiva Rao, who also addressed the gathering.
