Nashik Municipal Corporation Greenlights Major Road Infrastructure Projects
The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has taken a significant step toward improving urban infrastructure by approving substantial road repair works in key industrial zones. The civic body's standing committee has given the green light to two separate road improvement projects with a combined estimated cost of Rs 10 crore. These initiatives specifically target the Ambad and Satpur industrial estates that fall under the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and are located within NMC's jurisdiction.
Immediate Action Planned for Deteriorated Road Networks
A senior civic official confirmed to TOI that work orders will be formally issued to the selected contractors within the next week. Following this administrative step, actual construction activities are projected to commence by the end of April 2024, marking a swift transition from approval to implementation.
Satpur Industrial Estate: A Long-Awaited Asphalting Project
One of the approved proposals involves comprehensive asphalting of roads in municipal ward No. 11, which encompasses the Satpur industrial estate. This specific project carries an estimated budget of Rs 3.5 crore. The NMC administration has already completed the entire tender process and finalized the executing agency for this work.
The official explained the critical need for this intervention: "Most roads in the Satpur MIDC area have not undergone any re-laying for approximately 10 to 15 years. Their structural integrity has significantly deteriorated due to repeated utility-related digging by various agencies. There has been persistent demand from local industrialists for road rehabilitation. Consequently, selected roads in this area will now be properly asphalted."
Concrete Improvements Near Fresh-up Bakery Area
Simultaneously, the NMC's Public Works Department has planned a separate but equally important project involving concreting of roads in areas adjacent to Fresh-up bakery. The municipal corporation's general body had previously approved these concreting works with an estimated cost of Rs 7.5 crore.
The tender process for this project has also been successfully concluded, with an agency already finalized. The standing committee has now formally cleared the proposal to award the work order to the concerned contractor, ensuring both projects move forward in parallel.
Streamlined Process from Approval to Execution
The NMC administration has demonstrated efficient project management by:
- Completing tender processes for both projects in advance
- Finalizing executing agencies before committee approval
- Presenting ready-to-implement proposals to the standing committee
- Ensuring work orders will be issued within days of approval
This streamlined approach minimizes bureaucratic delays and ensures that industrial areas suffering from poor road conditions will see tangible improvements within the coming months. The combined investment of Rs 10 crore represents a substantial commitment to enhancing Nashik's industrial infrastructure and supporting local economic activity.
