Nashik Police Commissionerate Tops Maharashtra's E-Governance Programme
The Nashik Police Commissionerate has achieved a significant milestone by securing the first rank in the state under the 'Police Commissionerate Category' in Maharashtra government's 150-day e-governance improvement programme. This recognition highlights the successful implementation of the 'Nashik Jilha Kaidyacha Balekilla' (Nashik District Fortress of Law) initiative.
Felicitations and Recognition Ceremony
Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik was felicitated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis with a Certificate of Merit for outstanding performance at a ceremony held at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai on Saturday. The event was attended by Minister for Information Technology and Cultural Affairs Ashish Shelar, Chief Secretary Rajesh Agarwal, and Director General of Police Sadanand Date, among other dignitaries.
"The Nashik city police delivered an impactful performance within the 150-day programme initiated by the State government, which resulted in securing the first rank in the state," said Commissioner Sandeep Karnik. "The Nashik Police Commissionerate remains ever-ready and committed to the safety of its citizens."
Comprehensive Evaluation Framework
In May last year, the state government directed all government offices to implement e-administration reforms through a 150-day action plan. The participating departments were evaluated on seven key parameters:
- Official Website functionality and accessibility
- Aaple Sarkar system implementation
- E-office adoption and utilization
- Website dashboard effectiveness
- WhatsApp Chatbot deployment
- Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain technologies
- Geographic Information System (GIS) integration
The final evaluation of all state government offices was conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI), an independent accreditation body. The Nashik Police Commissionerate emerged as the top performer in its category with a leading score of 156.25 points.
Digital Initiatives and Citizen Engagement
Under the guidance of Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, the Nashik Police Commissionerate implemented several innovative digital and direct-engagement initiatives that contributed to their success:
- E-meeting with CP: A dedicated platform for digital interaction with the Commissioner of Police, enabling citizens to connect directly with senior leadership.
- Walk-in tours of CP office: Organized visits to promote accessibility and transparency, allowing citizens to understand police operations firsthand.
- Citizen safety prioritization: Enhanced focus on public safety through technology-driven approaches and community engagement.
The city police also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for recognizing the Nashik Police Commissionerate's achievements and for his vision in conceptualizing the programme that aims to drive real and measurable transformation in governance across Maharashtra in the coming years.
Nashik Zilla Parishad Also Recognized
In related developments, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also felicitated Omkar Pawar, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nashik Zilla Parishad, with a certificate of merit for the outstanding performance of the Nashik ZP in the e-Governance reform programme. The Nashik Zilla Parishad secured the 5th rank in the state with a total score of 165.75 points in the 150-day programme, demonstrating the district's comprehensive commitment to digital governance improvements.
This achievement underscores Maharashtra's broader push toward digital transformation in public administration, with Nashik emerging as a model for effective e-governance implementation at both police commissionerate and district administration levels.
