Minister P Narayana Inspects VMRDA Master Plan Roads for Bhogapuram Airport Connectivity
In a significant development for urban infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P Narayana conducted a comprehensive inspection of several master plan roads being developed by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) on Saturday. The inspection focused on critical road projects designed to enhance connectivity to the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport, with the minister emphasizing the need for timely completion to avoid delays.
Key Road Projects Under Review
During the inspection, Minister Narayana, accompanied by VMRDA Chairman M V Pranav Gopal and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg, reviewed the construction progress of three major road segments. These included the roads from Nerellavalasa to Kothavalasa, Boyapalem to Kapuluppada, and Bheemili to Doratota junction. The minister meticulously inquired about the challenges faced during construction and assessed the current status of each project, pressing officials for clear timelines on completion.
Officials explained that these roads are strategically planned to connect previously unserved areas with the national highway passing through Vizag city or the Anandapuram–Anakapalli highway. This initiative aims to provide alternative routes and direct access to the Bhogapuram International Airport, thereby improving regional transportation networks and supporting economic growth.
Minister's Directives and Official Assurances
Minister Narayana issued strict directives to ensure no delays in the construction process, instructing that all road works must be completed before the airport becomes operational. He stressed the importance of seamless connectivity to facilitate smooth travel and logistics for the airport's future operations.
VMRDA Chairman M V Pranav Gopal assured that, following the guidance of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the construction of these roads is being monitored regularly. He committed to completing the works within the planned time frame, highlighting the authority's dedication to meeting project deadlines. The inspection team also included VMRDA Chief Engineer Vinay Kumar and other officials from the engineering and planning departments, who provided detailed updates on the technical aspects and progress of the projects.
