Manesar Municipal Corporation Unanimously Approves Rs 678 Crore Budget for 2026-27
The Municipal Corporation of Manesar has unanimously passed a budget of Rs 678 crore for the financial year 2026-27. The budget meeting was held at the corporation's office in IMT Sector 8 and was chaired by Mayor Dr Inderjeet Kaur Yadav.
Budget Presentation and Income Estimates
Corporation Secretary and Deputy Municipal Commissioner Apoorva Chaudhary presented the budget to the House. He detailed that the total expenditure for the financial year is set at Rs 678 crore, while the annual income is estimated at approximately Rs 482 crore.
Chief Accounts Officer Sanjay Kumar provided a breakdown of the expected revenue sources. The corporation anticipates generating around Rs 200 crore from stamp duty and cess. Additional income includes Rs 50 crore from sales and auctions, approximately Rs 2.5 crore from rent and leases, Rs 86 crore from government grants, about Rs 16 crore from various fees, and Rs 75.5 crore from property taxes.
Expenditure Allocation and Development Plans
Under the expenditure head, the budget allocates funds for various municipal functions. Approximately Rs 35 crore will be spent on staff salaries and other related items, Rs 17 crore on administrative expenses, Rs 86 crore on cleaning and waste management, and around Rs 47 crore on operations and maintenance. A significant provision of about Rs 480 crore has been earmarked for development work across the corporation area.
During the meeting, Commissioner Pradeep Singh sought suggestions from councillors on the budget. He assured them that development work would be carried out transparently in all wards. The commissioner also announced plans to install a waste-to-energy plant in the municipal area, which will address waste management challenges and generate electricity. Additionally, he informed that the HSIIDC has agreed to provide land for the construction of a new municipal office, with a budget provision of Rs 90 crore made for this purpose.
Councillors' Demands and Future Initiatives
Councillors raised the demand for a salary increase for sanitation workers during the meeting. In response, Commissioner Pradeep Singh stated that a formal request would be made to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini regarding this matter. This highlights the ongoing focus on improving working conditions for municipal staff.
