Consumers Forced to Adopt Alternative Cooking Methods
Aftab Ahmad, a resident of Balaganj, shared his frustration, noting that he booked a cylinder seven days ago but has yet to receive it. "We had no option left. I had to buy an induction cooktop to manage cooking," he explained. In Aliganj, Neha Srivastava described how her family has been coping with limited gas for the past week, highlighting the daily challenges faced by many.
Booking System Failures Exacerbate the Crisis
In some instances, consumers are unable to even place bookings, adding to their woes. Pankaj Mishra of Mahanagar recounted his attempts to book a cylinder through the IVRS system, which repeatedly failed. "I couldn't complete booking despite repeated attempts," he said, pointing to technical glitches that hinder access to essential services.
Distributors Claim Situation is Improving Gradually
LPG distributors have responded to the crisis by asserting that the situation is showing signs of improvement. An official stated, "Most of the demand has already been met, and the remaining backlog will be cleared within a day or two." However, these assurances have done little to alleviate the immediate disruptions faced by households.
