Karnataka RTC Rushes 2,000 Extra Buses for Ugadi and Eid Festive Season

In a major move to accommodate the anticipated surge in travel demand, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced the deployment of 2,000 additional buses across the state. This strategic initiative is specifically timed for the upcoming festivals of Ugadi, which falls on March 19, and Eid ul-Fitr, expected to be observed on March 20 or 21. The extra services will be operational from March 18 to March 20, running in parallel with the corporation's regular schedules to ensure seamless connectivity for passengers.

Enhanced Connectivity from Bengaluru to Key Destinations

The bulk of these special bus services will originate from the Kempegowda Bus Station (Majestic) in Bengaluru, catering to travelers heading to a wide array of destinations. The comprehensive list includes prominent religious and cultural hubs such as Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapur, Sringeri, and Horanadu. Additionally, the network extends to major cities and towns across Karnataka and neighboring states, covering:

  • Davanagere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura
  • Coastal and northern regions: Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppal, Yadgir, Bidar
  • Inter-state connections: Tirupati, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad

Furthermore, supplementary services will be available from the Mysuru Road Bus Station, facilitating travel to Mysuru, Hunsur, Periyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar, and Madikeri, ensuring robust coverage for both intra-state and inter-state commuters.

Booking Convenience and Attractive Discounts

To streamline the travel experience, KSRTC has emphasized the availability of advance ticket bookings through its official website and reservation counters spread across Karnataka and adjoining states. In a bid to encourage group travel and round trips, the corporation is rolling out enticing discounts:

  1. A 5% discount will be applied for bookings involving four or more passengers on a single ticket.
  2. Passengers booking both onward and return journeys together will benefit from a 10% discount on the return leg, promoting cost-effective and planned travel.

This proactive measure by KSRTC aims to alleviate congestion, enhance passenger safety, and provide reliable transportation options during the peak festive period, reflecting the corporation's commitment to public service and efficient mobility solutions.
