Kanpur District Magistrate Reviews Wheat Procurement System
A crucial meeting to assess and enhance the wheat procurement system was conducted under the leadership of District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh at the Naveen Sabhagar in Kanpur. The session brought together key officials, including the ADM (Civil Supplies), Deputy RMO, AR Cooperative, district managers from various procurement agencies, and in-charges of all wheat procurement centers across the district.
Farmer Convenience as Top Priority
During the meeting, District Magistrate Singh issued explicit directives to ensure that the convenience of farmers remains the foremost concern at all wheat procurement centers. He mandated that every center must provide shaded seating areas for farmers, clean drinking water, and other essential basic facilities without any exceptions. This initiative aims to eliminate any difficulties farmers might encounter while selling their produce, thereby streamlining the procurement process and supporting agricultural livelihoods.
Procurement Details and Minimum Support Price
Singh highlighted that wheat procurement is currently underway at 63 operational centers in the Kanpur district. The procurement is being carried out at the fixed minimum support price of Rs 2,585 per quintal, as established by government policies. This ensures that farmers receive fair compensation for their crops, contributing to economic stability in the region.
The meeting underscored the administration's commitment to efficient and farmer-friendly procurement practices, with ongoing efforts to monitor and improve center operations for optimal service delivery.
