Jamshedpur Authorities Ramp Up LPG Surveillance Ahead of Festive Seasons
In a proactive move to address potential disruptions, East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi has issued directives to bolster monitoring mechanisms for LPG refill deliveries in Jamshedpur. This initiative specifically targets the upcoming Eid and Navratri periods, aiming to mitigate inconvenience for residents seeking cooking gas cylinders.
Enhanced Oversight to Combat Hoarding and Black Marketing
DC Satyarthi has instructed District Supplies Officer Md Zulfikar Ansari to intensify surveillance across the district. The primary objective is to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG refills, which could exacerbate shortages during high-demand festive times. Authorities emphasize the importance of ensuring that cylinders are delivered within the stipulated time frames after bookings are confirmed.
Furthermore, local police stations have been tasked with maintaining vigilance at LPG booking centers. This measure is designed to preempt any law and order issues that might arise from overcrowding or disputes, thereby safeguarding public safety and smooth operations.
Current Supply Status and Future Normalization Efforts
Supplies Officer Zulfikar Ansari provided insights into the present LPG situation, noting that domestic supply is currently meeting demand levels. "We are actively collaborating with schools and hospitals to facilitate their refill needs," Ansari stated. "Additionally, we anticipate that commercial LPG supply will stabilize in the coming days, further easing pressure on the system."
Ansari clarified that there is no fixed daily quota imposed on gas agencies for domestic cylinder deliveries, dispelling rumors that might have contributed to public anxiety. However, he acknowledged that a shortage last week led to significant panic, resulting in a backlog exceeding 60,000 cylinders. Presently, LPG agencies are distributing approximately 20,000 cylinders daily as part of efforts to clear this accumulation.
