Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Launches Census Self-Enumeration Drive

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) Commissioner Rudresh Ghali has officially declared that self-enumeration for the national Census will commence in the twin cities from April 1. In a press briefing held on Tuesday, Ghali emphasized the critical need for public cooperation in this extensive data collection effort, urging all residents to actively engage in the process by providing accurate household details.

Online Registration and Procedure Details

Ghali outlined that registration for self-enumeration will be facilitated through a mobile number on the dedicated government website, https://se.census.gov.in, established by the Union government. He detailed the steps involved: "Citizens must first select their precise location, identify their residence on the integrated map, and then respond to a comprehensive set of 33 questions covering various aspects of their household." Upon completion, participants will receive a unique reference ID number, which must be presented to the enumerators scheduled to visit homes after April 15.

Post-Enumeration Field Inspections and Staff Deployment

The Commissioner further explained that field inspections are slated to begin after April 16. During this phase, enumerators will conduct door-to-door visits to verify the information submitted through self-enumeration. In cases where residents have not completed the online process, the enumerators will directly collect the necessary data. To manage this large-scale operation, HDMC has appointed a total of 2,628 staff members, drawing personnel from multiple departments including education, revenue, and the municipal corporation itself. Each enumerator has been assigned the responsibility of covering 180 households.

Training Workshops for Enumerators

In preparation for the Census work, HDMC organized specialized training workshops on April 3, 4, and 5. These sessions were designed to equip the enumerators operating within the corporation's limits with the necessary skills and knowledge. Specifically, staff from zonal offices 1, 3, and 12 in Dharwad will receive their training at JSS College. Additionally, plans are in place to train personnel from zonal offices 3 through 11 at Mahila Polytechnic and IBMR College in Hubballi, ensuring a standardized approach across the region.

The announcement was made in the presence of key HDMC officials, including Superintending Engineer Vijay Kumar R and Deputy Commissioner (Admin) Anuradha Vastrad, highlighting the corporation's commitment to a smooth and efficient Census execution.
