Haryana Cracks Down on LPG Black Marketing, Assures Supply

Haryana Government Takes Strong Action Against LPG Black Marketing

In a significant move to ensure fair distribution of cooking gas, Haryana's Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Rajesh Nagar, declared on Thursday that the state government and district administrations are on high alert. Addressing the media after a meeting of the Kurukshetra District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee at the mini secretariat, Nagar emphasized that strict measures are being enforced to combat black marketing and illegal use of LPG cylinders.

Firm Steps Against Illegal Activities

Nagar revealed that so far, 12 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered, and 169 cylinders have been seized across various districts in Haryana. He provided a detailed breakdown of the seizures:

  • 18 cylinders in Kurukshetra
  • 60 cylinders in Narnaul
  • 5 cylinders in Karnal
  • 21 cylinders in Ambala
  • 28 cylinders in Kharkhoda
  • 18 cylinders in Faridabad
  • 19 cylinders in Jind

This crackdown underscores the government's commitment to maintaining law and order in the supply chain.

Enhanced Monitoring and Public Assurance

To further strengthen oversight, district-level monitoring committees have been established in all districts. These committees are tasked with taking prompt action upon receiving any complaints related to LPG misuse or hoarding. Nagar reassured the public that the state government is dedicated to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of cooking gas and urged citizens not to panic. "The situation is under control," he stated firmly.

Highlighting the supply stability, Nagar noted that in Kurukshetra alone, approximately 8,000 cylinders are distributed daily, a level that has been consistently maintained. He pointed out a concerning trend where many consumers are rushing to refill all their cylinders in advance, even those who typically require refills every three to four months. The minister appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary panic booking and to cooperate with the administration. "The situation in the country and the state is normal," he added, emphasizing the need for calm.

Patiala District Also Reviews Supply

In a related development, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Simarpreet Kaur reviewed the LPG supply in Patiala district on Thursday. She confirmed that there is no shortage of domestic cylinders and echoed Nagar's call for consumers to refrain from panic booking. This coordinated effort across districts highlights the state's proactive approach to managing resources effectively.

The Haryana government's actions demonstrate a robust response to potential disruptions, ensuring that essential commodities like cooking gas remain accessible to all without exploitation.
