The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has announced a major digital shift in its operations. Starting January 15, all civic inspections must be conducted through a dedicated mobile application. Inspections done outside this app after that date will not hold any validity.
Technology-Driven Governance Push
MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya chaired a review meeting on Friday where this decision was finalized. He stated the corporation is actively moving toward technology-driven governance. The goal is to make civic services more transparent, accountable, and friendly for residents.
All inspections by our officials after January 15 will be mandatory app-based, Dahiya explained. This approach will ensure effective monitoring of complaints. It will also help create a strong and reliable database for the corporation.
App Development and Phased Rollout
The mobile application has been developed in-house by MCG. Currently, it is at a preliminary stage. In the first phase, only MCG officials will use the app for their inspection duties.
An MCG official mentioned that residents will get access to the app once we launch it officially. The app is designed as a centralized platform. Other government departments like GMDA, NHAI, and HSVP will also be linked to it in the future.
Expected Benefits of the Digital System
Officials believe the app-based inspection and grievance redressal system will bring multiple advantages:
- Strengthen monitoring of civic issues
- Reduce manual intervention in processes
- Limit negligence by creating a verifiable digital trail
The app will allow MCG officials to register complaints on the spot during inspections. It will create a centralized digital record of all inspections across Gurgaon. This move aims to tighten oversight and reduce on-ground lapses in service delivery.
Linking Salaries to Digital Attendance
In a significant step, MCG has decided to link salary payments for assistant sanitation inspectors to their daily attendance. This attendance must be recorded through the mobile app.
Officials clarified that inspectors who fail to mark their attendance digitally could see their salary payments affected. This measure is specifically aimed at improving discipline and accountability in sanitation operations.
The issue of attendance recording saw discussion in the last House meeting as well. Councillors proposed that attendance of sanitation staff should be recorded under the supervision and signature of ward councillors. This suggestion was made to further improve accountability and service delivery at the local level.
Focus on Cleanliness of Vacant Plots
The review meeting also addressed the cleanliness of open and vacant plots throughout the city. Commissioner Dahiya issued clear directives on this matter.
Owners of vacant land will now be held responsible for maintaining cleanliness on their properties. They must prevent garbage dumping and, if necessary, construct boundary walls to secure the plots.
MCG will identify such plots across Gurgaon. The corporation will issue notices to property owners. In cases of non-compliance, MCG will carry out cleaning operations at the owner's expense.
All decisions taken during the review meeting will be implemented on the ground within stipulated time frames. The corporation is committed to executing these digital and operational changes promptly.
