FASTag Annual Pass Price Set for 2.5% Increase from April 1

The cost of the FASTag Annual Pass for private vehicles is scheduled to rise by 2.5%, moving from the current rate of Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,075 effective April 1. This adjustment marks the first annual revision since the pass was officially introduced by the road transport ministry.

Current Benefits and New Pricing Structure

At present, the annual pass allows car owners to cross 200 toll plazas across India's national highway network without stopping for payment. The pass has proven immensely popular, with over 52 lakh highway car users subscribing since its launch on August 15.

Officials confirmed that the price increase is in accordance with the established formula for annual highway toll revisions across the country. "The increase is in line with the formula for revision of highway toll across the country, which happens every year," stated a government official familiar with the matter.

Last Chance for Current Pricing

Vehicle owners still have an opportunity to purchase or recharge their FASTag Annual Pass at the current rate of Rs 3,000 if they complete the transaction before March 31. "Those who recharge by this month can buy it paying Rs 3,000," the official clarified, emphasizing the limited window for the existing price.

The pass offers significant convenience for frequent highway travelers, eliminating the need for repeated toll payments and reducing congestion at plaza gates. Users can recharge their pass multiple times throughout the year as needed.

Transparent Revision Mechanism

Government officials emphasized that the provision for annual price adjustment was clearly mentioned when the FASTag Annual Pass was originally notified. This transparent approach ensures users are aware of potential cost changes from the outset.

The success of the program demonstrates growing acceptance of digital toll payment systems among Indian motorists. With over 5.2 million subscribers in just seven months, the FASTag Annual Pass has become a preferred option for regular highway commuters seeking seamless travel experiences.
