FASTag Annual Pass Price Set to Increase from April 2026
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially revised the pricing for the FASTag annual pass, with the new cost taking effect from April 1, 2026. The prepaid toll plan, which was introduced to streamline highway travel for regular users, will now be priced at Rs 3,075 annually. This marks an increase of Rs 75 from its previous annual fee of Rs 3,000.
Background and Purpose of the FASTag Annual Pass
Launched in August 2025, the FASTag annual pass was designed to offer significant convenience to frequent highway travelers by eliminating the need for constant recharges. The plan operates on a straightforward principle: users make a single, upfront payment that covers either one full year of travel or up to 200 toll crossings, whichever limit is reached first. This system has proven particularly beneficial for private vehicle owners who regularly use national highways and expressways.
Regulatory Basis for the Price Revision
The adjustment in pricing is not arbitrary but is firmly grounded in existing regulations. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the revision aligns with the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. This regulatory framework ensures that toll pricing remains consistent with operational costs and infrastructure maintenance requirements across India's vast highway network.
Adoption and Eligibility Details
Since its rollout, the FASTag annual pass has witnessed steady and growing adoption. Official data indicates that over 56 lakh users have already opted for this convenient toll payment solution. It is important to note that the pass is exclusively available for private, non-commercial vehicles, including cars, jeeps, and vans. The pass can be utilized at approximately 1,150 toll plazas located on national highways and expressways throughout the country, providing broad coverage for domestic travelers.
How to Purchase the FASTag Annual Pass
Acquiring the FASTag annual pass is a streamlined process designed for user convenience. Interested vehicle owners can follow these simple steps:
