Normal life across Bardez taluka has been severely disrupted as the department of drinking water announced a restricted water supply for Friday and Saturday. The emergency shutdown comes after engineers detected double leakage in the crucial 1,000mm main conveying pipeline, located near the Tilari canal crossing at Colvale on Thursday.
Discovery of Multiple Breaches
According to official sources, the first breach was spotted during daylight hours on the primary channel originating from the Assonora water treatment plant. While contractors and earthmoving machinery were immediately deployed to address this initial leak, a second rupture was discovered just a short distance away later that same evening.
The discovery of this secondary leak significantly complicated repair efforts and necessitated a complete shutdown of the trunk line to facilitate comprehensive emergency repairs.
