Dhanbad District Administration Launches Major Cleanliness and Plantation Drive
The district administration of Dhanbad initiated a significant cleanliness and plantation campaign at Rani Talab in the Dhaiya area of the city on Saturday. This special drive was organized with the primary objectives of promoting public cleanliness and fostering environmental conservation throughout the community.
Senior Officials Lead by Example
Top administrative and police officials actively participated in the event, demonstrating strong leadership and commitment to the cause. Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan and Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar were at the forefront, joined by Subdivisional Officer Lokesh Barange, Municipal Commissioner Ashish Gangwar, and Deputy Development Commissioner Sunny Raj.
These officials did not merely supervise but physically engaged in the cleaning activities. They stepped into the mud surrounding Rani Talab and personally collected garbage alongside civic workers and local residents. This hands-on approach was designed to send a powerful message about the importance of cleanliness while simultaneously boosting the morale of sanitation workers from the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation.
Comprehensive Environmental Initiative
The drive encompassed multiple environmental protection measures. Beyond the thorough cleaning of Rani Talab and its adjacent areas, participants planted numerous saplings to enhance green cover and raise awareness about ecological preservation. The pond's location on one of the city's major routes made it an ideal spot to set a visible example for maintaining public spaces effectively.
Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan emphasized the symbolic importance of the location, stating, "The pond is situated on one of the city's primary routes, and this cleanliness drive aimed to establish a benchmark for how public spaces should be maintained."
Announcement of Ongoing Monthly Program
In a significant development for sustained environmental efforts, Ranjan announced an expanded initiative. The administration will identify one water body in each municipal ward for a monthly cleanliness drive. This systematic approach ensures regular maintenance and community involvement across different areas of Dhanbad.
To incentivize participation and excellence, Ranjan revealed that wards demonstrating the best performance in maintaining cleanliness would receive priority in the implementation of various development schemes. This creates a direct link between environmental stewardship and community development benefits.
The collective effort of officials, municipal workers, and local citizens at Rani Talab represents a model for community-led environmental action that other urban areas might emulate. By combining immediate cleanup action with long-term institutional commitments, Dhanbad's administration is establishing a framework for ongoing public space maintenance and environmental consciousness.
