The project features a sophisticated three-tunnel design located near gate no. 3 of the Haiderpur Badli Mor metro station. Two of these underpasses are dedicated to vehicular movement, while the third is exclusively for pedestrians and non-motorised transport. Each vehicular underpass measures approximately 50 metres in length, 9.6 metres in width, and 6 metres in height. Transport officials project that nearly 15,800 vehicles will utilize these underpasses daily. This substantial capacity is expected to significantly ease pressure on the existing interchange and flyover, particularly during peak hours when traffic congestion frequently spills over onto surrounding roads, creating gridlock and delays.

Environmental Benefits and Pedestrian Safety

The project delivers notable environmental advantages alongside its traffic solutions. Estimates suggest it could save approximately 58,000 litres of fuel annually and reduce carbon emissions by an impressive 135 tonnes. Furthermore, the dedicated pedestrian underpass will provide a safe crossing for metro users traveling between Outer Ring Road, Shalimar Bagh, and Azadpur Mandi, addressing a critical safety concern.
