The Delhi government has launched a major crackdown on illegal constructions, inspecting 124 properties and taking action against multiple violations. As part of the drive, 94 illegal structures were demolished and 114 properties were sealed.
Authorities stated that architects found guilty of involvement in illegal constructions will be blacklisted. The government is also working on introducing third-party insurance and a digital fire response system. This action is part of the Delhi government's zero-tolerance policy against illegal construction under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Fire Breaks Out at Clothing Store in Delhi's Gandhi Nagar
A fire broke out at a clothing store in Nehru Gali in Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area on Saturday night. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot and successfully brought the blaze under control. Fire Officer Deshpal Singh said the fire department received a call about the incident at 9.08 pm, but fire engines took longer to reach the site due to confusion over the address and the area's narrow lanes. He confirmed that the fire has been completely controlled and that the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
BJP's Rajesh Kumar Alleges Culture of Intimidation in Bengal
BJP leader Rajesh Kumar alleged that the ruling establishment in West Bengal relied on fear and intimidation during elections, particularly in Jagaddal, where he claimed residents were threatened after BJP's door-to-door campaigns. Speaking in North 24 Parganas district, Kumar said people were reminded of incidents from 2021 and warned of worse consequences if they did not comply. He alleged that a culture of guns, bombs, and intimidation was used to influence voters, but said the public voted fearlessly despite repeated attempts to pressure them. Kumar further claimed that weapons and explosives hidden in various locations were now being recovered following the election outcome. The allegations have not been independently verified.
Janasena Worker Arrested in Telangana Over Social Media Post Against CM
Telangana police have arrested Janasena Party worker Korra Chander Lal for allegedly posting derogatory remarks against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on social media. Police said a case (No. 395/2026) was registered against him and he has been sent to judicial custody. In a post on X, Telangana Police stated that Lal was booked for deliberately making inappropriate comments against the chief minister online. The police also cautioned social media users to exercise restraint while posting, stating that legal action would be taken against those violating the law.
Amit Shah Reviews Border Security in Tripura, Stresses Integrated Surveillance
Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday chaired a meeting in Salbagan, Tripura, to review border security and management issues. Attended by chief minister Manik Saha and senior officials from all eight border districts, the meeting focused on strengthening coordination between central and state agencies. Shah called for a foolproof border security grid involving local administration, police, the BSF, and modern technology. He directed authorities to intensify action against drug and arms trafficking, implement the MHA's CCTV model in Tripura, and link upgraded BSF cameras with district administrations. He also stressed vigilance over financial transactions and property deals in border areas, reaffirming the Centre's commitment to strengthening border security and development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
