In a significant move to enhance oversight of government initiatives, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has issued a directive requiring all projects with a budget exceeding ₹5 crore to be uploaded and regularly updated on the CM-Pragati portal. This mandate, announced during a high-level review meeting on Thursday, aims to facilitate direct monitoring from the highest levels of administration and ensure greater accountability in public spending.
Strengthening Project Supervision and Transparency
Chairing a comprehensive review session with heads of all government departments, CM Gupta emphasized that large-value projects must no longer face delays or suffer from poor coordination. She stressed the importance of translating every rupee spent into tangible, visible outcomes on the ground. "Progress reports must accurately reflect the actual status of the work," she stated, underscoring the need for meticulous tracking and timely interventions.
Key Focus Areas and Directives
The meeting, which also included Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma, concentrated on several critical aspects of project management:
- Timeline Tracking: Departments are required to monitor project schedules closely to prevent slippages.
- Bottleneck Removal: Identifying and addressing obstacles that hinder project progress.
- Accountability Measures: Ensuring that responsible officials are held accountable for delays or inefficiencies.
Furthermore, CM Gupta instructed all departments to provide regular and accurate updates on the portal, enabling real-time corrective actions and fostering a culture of transparency. She also highlighted the necessity of keeping citizens informed through public portals, thereby promoting greater civic engagement and trust in government operations.
Advance Planning for Essential Services
In addition to project monitoring, the Chief Minister directed departments to complete advance planning to avoid disruptions to essential services such as water and power supply, especially during the upcoming summer months. This proactive approach aims to ensure that public utilities remain reliable and efficient, even under challenging conditions.
The implementation of these measures is expected to streamline project execution, reduce bureaucratic delays, and enhance the overall efficiency of government works in Delhi. By leveraging digital tools like the CM-Pragati portal, the administration seeks to create a more responsive and transparent governance framework.
