Chatra District Administration Forges Key Partnerships for Social Welfare Projects

The district administration of Chatra has taken a significant step towards enhancing community welfare by signing memoranda of understanding with two major public sector undertakings. On Wednesday, agreements were finalized with Central Coalfields Limited and NTPC to undertake crucial social initiatives as part of their corporate social responsibility commitments.

Repairing Homes for Vulnerable Tribal Families

Under the first agreement, the Chandragupta coal project of CCL will fund the repair of houses for 28 families belonging to the Birhor community, a particularly vulnerable tribal group residing in the Itkhori block. This project is allocated a budget of Rs 28.2 lakh and aims to provide improved living conditions for these marginalized families, addressing long-standing housing issues.

Developing Model Anganwadi Centres Across Multiple Blocks

In a parallel initiative, the Tandwa unit of NTPC will spearhead the development of 25 anganwadi centres spread across Chatra, Simaria, Tandwa, Hunterganj, and Itkhori blocks. The first phase involves establishing these centres, which will subsequently be upgraded into model anganwadis at an estimated cost of Rs 1.08 crore.

Officials have outlined that the upgraded centres will offer a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Enhanced nutrition programs to combat malnutrition among children.
  • Early childhood education to foster learning from a young age.
  • Healthcare services tailored for women and children, ensuring better medical access.
  • Modern infrastructure and facilities to create a conducive environment for development.

Ensuring Effective Implementation and Quality Control

Chatra Deputy Commissioner Keerthishree G emphasized the administration's commitment to timely and high-quality execution of these projects. She stated, "Both the projects would be implemented in a time-bound manner with strict quality monitoring. Departments concerned have been directed to ensure coordination and regular supervision so that benefits reach the targeted beneficiaries effectively."

This directive underscores the focus on accountability and efficiency, aiming to maximize the impact of these corporate social responsibility investments on the local community.
