Weekly Janta Darbar in Chandigarh Sees 125 Public Hearings Addressed by Governor and Senior Officials
The weekly Janta Darbar, a public grievance redressal platform launched in July 2025, continues to demonstrate its effectiveness in bridging the gap between citizens and the administration. In the latest session held on Wednesday at the UT Secretariat, a total of 125 public hearings were conducted by Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria along with senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration.

This initiative has emerged as a transparent and accessible forum that enables direct interaction between residents and top administrative officials. During the hearings, people from Chandigarh raised various issues spanning civic amenities, public services, and personal matters, highlighting the diverse concerns of the community.

The distribution of cases among senior officers was as follows:
- Governor Gulab Chand Kataria personally heard 7 cases.
- The Chief Secretary conducted 5 hearings.
- The Home Secretary addressed 20 grievances.
- The Finance Secretary took up 7 cases.
- The Engineering Secretary handled 19 grievances.
- The Municipal Commissioner heard 5 cases.
- The Deputy Commissioner addressed a significant 40 hearings.
- The SSP conducted 22 public hearings.
Patient Hearing and Assurance of Prompt Action
Officials emphasized that each grievance was heard patiently and thoroughly, with applicants given ample opportunity to explain their issues in detail. The administration assured citizens of prompt, effective, and hassle-free delivery of public services, with directions issued to concerned departments for timely and appropriate redressal.
