Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Urges Swift Action on Power Sector Initiatives
In a high-level review meeting held in Vijayawada, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has issued a directive to officials to accelerate the implementation of various power sector projects across the state. The minister emphasized the need for a war-footing approach to meet Andhra Pradesh's energy goals and enhance infrastructure, reflecting the government's commitment to public welfare.
Focus on PM Surya Ghar and RDSS Schemes
During the meeting, Ravi Kumar reviewed the progress of key central schemes, including the PM Surya Ghar and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), with the Chairmen and Managing Directors (CMDs) of distribution companies (discoms) and senior officials. He laid special emphasis on providing free solar power connections to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories under the PM Surya Ghar initiative, aiming to boost renewable energy adoption among marginalized communities.
Specific Targets and Timelines Set
The minister set a clear target to complete at least 2,000 solar connections per constituency between the birth anniversaries of Babu Jagjivan Ram and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He instructed officials to take stringent measures to ensure these goals are achieved within the stipulated timeframe without any delays, highlighting the importance of timely execution for effective energy distribution.
Addressing Agriculture Sector Needs
Regarding the agriculture sector, Ravi Kumar ordered the immediate clearance of all pending electricity connections before the commencement of the upcoming farming season.
