RJD Leader Raises Concerns Over Election Commission's Transparency

In a significant development ahead of the crucial second phase of Bihar Assembly Elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has strongly criticized the Election Commission of India for what he calls a lack of transparency in sharing crucial voting data.

The Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly has raised serious questions about why the poll body has failed to disclose gender-wise data of electors who cast their votes during the first phase of assembly polls held on November 6, 2025.

Unprecedented Delay in Data Disclosure

Speaking at a press conference in Patna on Monday, Tejashwi Yadav expressed his concerns about the unusual delay in releasing the gender-wise breakdown of voters. "The EC has not disclosed the gender-wise data of electors who cast their votes on November 6 even after four days have passed from the first phase of assembly polls. This is happening for the first time. Earlier, it was given immediately," the former Deputy Chief Minister claimed.

Yadav, who is the chief ministerial candidate of the INDIA bloc, emphasized that this marks a departure from established practice where such data was typically made available promptly after each phase of voting in previous elections.

The RJD leader made it clear that his party and the opposition coalition would not tolerate any form of electoral malpractice. "We will not allow vote theft or dishonesty," he asserted during the press conference, signaling the opposition's determination to ensure free and fair elections.

High-Stakes Second Phase Approaches

As the political drama unfolds, the election process continues with the second and final phase of Bihar Assembly Elections scheduled for Tuesday, November 11, 2025. This phase will see a massive electorate of approximately 3.70 crore voters deciding the political fate of 1,302 candidates across 122 constituencies.

The constituencies going to polls in this crucial phase include several key regions such as:

  • West Champaran
  • East Champaran
  • Sitamarhi
  • Madhubani
  • Supaul
  • Araria
  • Kishanganj

Among the prominent candidates in the fray are several ministers from the Nitish Kumar government, making this phase particularly significant for both the ruling NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc.

Security Measures and Key Contests

In response to the critical nature of this phase, authorities have significantly beefed up security arrangements across the state to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure smooth polling.

The second phase represents a high-stakes battle for both major political formations, with most districts in the politically sensitive Seemanchal region going to polls. This region has historically been a crucial determinant in Bihar's electoral outcomes.

One of the most watched contests features Bijendra Prasad Yadav, a veteran JD(U) leader and the most senior member of the state cabinet, who is attempting to retain his Supaul seat for a record eighth term. His performance could serve as a bellwether for the broader political trends in the state.

The Election Commission's handling of the voting process and data transparency has come under increased scrutiny as the state approaches the conclusion of this significant electoral exercise that will determine Bihar's political direction for the next five years.
