Ranchi: State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar on Friday announced that the draft publication of electoral rolls under the Special Summary Revision (SIR), along with lists of absent, shifted, deceased, and duplicate voters, will be shared with all recognized political parties and will also be made available on the CEO's official website.
Meeting with Political Parties
While chairing a meeting with representatives of political parties at Nirvachan Sadan, Kumar stated that the details will be published on August 5. He explained that mapping of the current electoral rolls with the previous ones is underway, and the list of all unmapped voters will be displayed at polling booths for two weeks starting from May 23.
Instructions for Unmapped Voters
Unmapped voters are advised to contact their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs), provide the necessary information, and get themselves mapped. Kumar emphasized that mapped voters will not be required to submit any additional documents under the SIR process.
Eligibility and Legal Provisions
The CEO clarified that SIR is exclusively for eligible Indian citizens, and non-Indian citizens should not participate in the process. "If any person makes a false declaration in this regard, they will be liable for action under the provisions of Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950," he added.
Training and Appointment of BLAs
Kumar shared the SIR processes through a PowerPoint presentation and urged political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at all polling booths so that training can be imparted from June 15. He also appealed to voters to visit polling centers from May 23 to check the unmapped voter list.
Appeal to Voters
The CEO appealed to all voters of Jharkhand to visit their respective polling centers from May 23 and verify their names in the unmapped voter list. Those whose names appear in the list should contact their BLO to get their names mapped.
