PM Modi Chairs Virtual Meeting with Chief Ministers to Review Middle East Conflict Impact
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday led a virtual meeting with chief ministers to evaluate the repercussions of the ongoing Middle East conflict. The discussions primarily focused on critical areas such as fuel supply, inflation, and logistics, amid escalating global tensions.
Coordinated Action and Preparedness Review
The meeting aimed to ensure synchronized efforts between the Central government and states to manage potential disruptions caused by the crisis, particularly in energy supplies and supply chains. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of assessing preparedness and maintaining stability in essential sectors.
Officials highlighted that the interaction reinforced a "Team India" approach, promoting synergy between the Union and state governments to tackle emerging challenges effectively.
Focus on Fuel Availability and Price Pressures
With global energy markets under significant strain, the discussions included a thorough review of states' readiness to handle any fallout from the conflict. This involved contingency planning for fuel availability and addressing price pressures to mitigate inflationary impacts.
The Centre stressed the necessity for close coordination and timely response mechanisms to navigate the volatile situation and safeguard national interests.
Exclusion of Poll-Bound States and Administrative Coordination
Chief ministers from poll-bound states did not participate in the meeting due to the model code of conduct. To ensure administrative coordination without violating election norms, a separate meeting for Chief Secretaries of these states will be conducted through the Cabinet Secretariat.
This step underscores the government's commitment to upholding democratic processes while addressing urgent national concerns.
