French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Mumbai for a pivotal three-day visit to India, where he is set to hold extensive bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Launch of India-France Year of Innovation 2026
In Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will jointly inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation, to be celebrated throughout 2026 in both countries. The opening ceremony for this initiative, along with a cultural commemoration, will take place at the Gateway of India on Tuesday evening. This event will bring together business leaders, startups, researchers, and innovators from India and France to foster collaboration under the Horizon 2047 roadmap, which includes sectors like space, nuclear energy, climate, education, and emerging technologies.
AI Summit and Broader Engagements
Following their engagements in Mumbai, Macron and Modi will travel to New Delhi to attend the India AI Impact Summit 2026 on Thursday. This summit underscores the growing importance of artificial intelligence in bilateral cooperation. The visit also builds on recent developments, such as the landmark free trade agreement signed between India and the European Union in January, further enhancing economic ties.
Macron's itinerary includes a warm welcome in Mumbai, with posters and hoardings displayed across the city.
