Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Oversees Preparations for Inaugural Sindhu Mahakumbh in Leh
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing preparations for the first-ever Sindhu Mahakumbh at Sindhu Ghat in Leh on Tuesday. During his visit, he emphasized the critical need to provide a world-class experience for the anticipated influx of tourists and pilgrims.
Focus on Aesthetic and Infrastructure Enhancements
Saxena directed concerned departments to undertake a thorough makeover of the site to ensure safety, convenience, and visual appeal. Key directives included the removal of debris, repair and restoration of the ghat, and aesthetic landscaping of the riverfront. He specifically suggested placing large decorative pots with local flowers along the approach routes to enhance the scenic beauty.
Additional measures highlighted by the Lieutenant Governor involve sprucing up the approach road, trimming existing shrubs, and developing footpaths wherever feasible. He also stressed the importance of adequate lighting, sanitation, and other essential amenities at the venue to cater to visitors' needs.
Emphasis on Tourism and Environmental Preservation
Reiterating Ladakh's immense natural beauty and tourism potential, Saxena underscored that well-planned development, environmental preservation, and robust civic infrastructure are pivotal to strengthening tourism and improving the quality of life for local residents. He called for the provision of adequate drinking water facilities and cleaning of riverbanks to ensure a pleasant and memorable experience for all attendees.
The Lieutenant Governor further directed officials to ensure regular monitoring of the works, with a clear emphasis on maintaining high standards in civic infrastructure while preserving Ladakh's unique heritage and ecological balance.
