Israel's Consul General in Mumbai Clarifies Iran Action, Debunks Bunker Rumors

In an online interaction with journalists on Tuesday, Yaniv Revach, the Consul General of Israel in Mumbai, provided detailed insights into the recent military actions against Iran. He emphasized that the operation was initiated by the United States government, with Israel participating due to a clear understanding of the direct threat posed by the Iranian regime.

International Support and Strategic Goals

Revach referenced international media reports, highlighting that key regional leaders, including Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the UAE's President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, support efforts to completely neutralize the Iranian threat. He stated, "One can't negotiate with a regime like Iran," underscoring the necessity of these actions.

When questioned about the potential impact on India's energy crisis due to the conflict, Revach reassured that Iran cannot control the Strait of Hormuz, and the vital waterway must remain open to ensure global energy stability.

Addressing Social Media Misinformation

The Consul General firmly debunked widespread social media rumors alleging discrimination against Indians in accessing underground bunkers in Israel. He termed these claims "nasty and completely untrue," explaining that not all Israelis have bunkers, and many residents, including foreigners, utilize underground metro stations, which are open to all and considered among the safest locations during conflicts.

War Timeline and Military Assessment

Regarding the war's duration and the possibility of a ground offensive, Revach indicated that such decisions rest with the US president. He speculated, "I guess the war will end when we reach our aim, or when Trump understands or decides that he has achieved the desired goals." He confidently asserted that Iran's offensive capabilities have been severely crippled, with over 90% of ballistic missiles and launcher pads damaged, and its air force and navy completely destroyed.

Response to Criticism and Diplomatic Stance

Revach responded firmly to criticism of Israel and the war, expressing indifference toward public opinion that he believes misunderstands radical Islamist regimes. He pointed out historical human rights issues in Iran and atrocities in Nigeria, questioning the lack of Western demonstrations for African victims compared to media coverage influenced by countries like Qatar.

On India's potential role as a mediator, Revach adopted a diplomatic approach, stating it is not his place to advise the Indian government. He expressed confidence that India would not demand Israel to cease hostilities, given shared understandings of threats from radical Islamist and terrorist organizations. "At the end of the day, we're all in the same boat," he remarked, noting the prevalence of terrorist activities in recent years.
