Defence Minister Rajnath Singh declared on Saturday that the Central Government is "committed to safeguard the Indian people" as authorities escalate surveillance of energy provisions and essential commodities in response to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. This statement followed a comprehensive high-level review conducted by an Informal Group of Ministers (IGoM).

In a detailed post on social media platform X, after presiding over the significant meeting, Singh elaborated: "A meeting of an IGoM comprising several senior ministers was convened today to evaluate risks to energy supplies, domestic availability of essential commodities, critical infrastructure resilience, and the robustness of India's supply chains due to the ongoing West Asia conflict."
He further emphasized, "There was an in-depth discussion on all measures being implemented by the Government of India. The NDA Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation and remains dedicated to protecting Indian citizens from any adverse effects of the conflict."
First Formal Assessment Amid Global Supply Concerns
This gathering represented the inaugural formal assessment by the informal ministerial group as international apprehensions heighten regarding potential supply disruptions linked to the regional strife. Officials meticulously examined vulnerabilities across multiple sectors including:
