India Firmly Rejects Pakistan's Statement on Banned Terrorist Organization
In a sharp diplomatic response, India on Wednesday categorically dismissed Pakistan's statement backing a banned terrorist organization, emphasizing that Islamabad possesses "no locus standi" to interfere in India's internal affairs. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, delivered this rebuke during media queries, highlighting Pakistan's history of sponsoring terrorism as a context for its remarks.
MEA Spokesperson Condemns Pakistan's Narrative
Jaiswal stated, "We categorically reject the statement issued by Pakistan in support of a banned terrorist organization and its members. Pakistan has no locus standi to comment on matters internal to India or its judicial processes." He further noted that such comments were unsurprising, given Pakistan's longstanding record of condoning violence. "However, one is not surprised that a country, which has long been sponsoring terrorism, has come up with such a statement condoning violence and killing of innocent people," he added.
Call for Pakistan to Introspect on Human Rights
The MEA spokesperson urged Pakistan to focus on its own human rights issues instead of making baseless allegations. "Instead of peddling lies and frivolous narratives, Pakistan should introspect on the grave and systematic human rights violations it continues to perpetrate," Jaiswal asserted. This response followed Pakistan's issuance of a statement concerning judicial proceedings in India related to the banned terror outfit.
India's Sovereign Stance on Internal Security
India has consistently maintained that matters pertaining to its internal security and judicial actions are sovereign issues. The country has repeatedly called on Pakistan to cease its support for terrorism and cross-border activities, reinforcing its position that external interference is unacceptable. This latest exchange underscores the ongoing tensions between the two nations over security and diplomatic protocols.
