KSR Bengaluru-Kannur Express Extended to Kozhikode After Technical Delays

Indian Railways has officially announced the extension of the KSR Bengaluru-Kannur Express, with train numbers 16511 and 16512, to include Kozhikode as a new destination. This significant move, which was initially ordered in February 2024, faced implementation hurdles due to technical issues but is now set to commence from Sunday.

New Schedule and Stops for the Extended Route

Under the revised timetable, the train will depart from Bengaluru at 9:35 PM and make its way to Kozhikode with several key stops along the route. It is scheduled to arrive in Kannur at 10:55 AM, followed by stops at Thalassery at 11:20 AM, Vadakara at 11:41 AM, and Koyilandy at 11:58 AM, before reaching Kozhikode at 12:40 PM.

For the return journey, the train will leave Kozhikode at 3:30 PM, with departures from Koyilandy at 3:52 PM, Vadakara at 4:12 PM, Thalassery at 4:34 PM, and Kannur at 5:00 PM. After these stops, it will continue on to Bengaluru as per the existing schedule, ensuring seamless connectivity for passengers.

Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan has highlighted that this extension will provide much-needed relief to travelers from the Malabar region who frequently commute to Bengaluru. The enhanced route via Mangaluru is expected to improve accessibility and reduce travel time for many, fostering better regional integration and economic growth.
