A scenic sunrise trip to the popular Netarhat plateau in Jharkhand ended in tragedy on Thursday when a car carrying four young tourists met with a fatal accident, resulting in one death and leaving three others injured.
Details of the Netarhat Plateau Accident
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Gurdari police station in Gumla district. According to police reports, the group of four friends, all hailing from Barkagaon in the Hazaribag block, was returning after watching the sunrise at the famous Netarhat tourist spot.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Anupam Arya. The injured victims are Shahil Raja (19), Roshan (20), and Md Nahit (21). All four were in the same vehicle when the driver reportedly lost control.
Sequence of Events and Rescue Efforts
One of the injured survivors recounted the harrowing moments. "We were returning after watching the sunrise at Netarhat," he said. "As our car reached near a place called Chorka-Khand, our vehicle went out of control and hit a tree."
Their friends, who were travelling ahead in another vehicle, witnessed the accident in their rear-view mirror or were alerted and immediately turned back to help. They launched a rescue operation and rushed the injured to the Bishunpur Community Health Centre.
Unfortunately, Anupam Arya was declared dead by the doctors at the health centre. The three other injured youths were subsequently moved to the Gumla Sadar Hospital for further medical treatment.
Police Investigation and Case Registered
Officer-in-Charge of Gurdari police station, Prakash Tirkey, confirmed that a case has been registered in connection with the accident. The police are investigating the exact cause of the mishap, which preliminary reports suggest was due to a loss of control over the vehicle.
The Netarhat plateau, often called the 'Queen of Chotanagpur,' is a major tourist attraction in Jharkhand, known for its breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. This tragic incident has cast a shadow over the region, highlighting the risks on its winding roads.
The local community and authorities are mourning the loss of the young life from Hazaribag. The condition of the other three tourists at Gumla hospital is being closely monitored.
