Telangana Secures ₹22,324 Cr Tourism Investment, Aims for 90,000 Jobs
Telangana bags ₹22,324 cr tourism investment for 2025

In a major boost to its economy and hospitality sector, the state of Telangana has announced securing massive investment commitments worth a staggering ₹22,324 crore specifically for tourism development in 2025. The announcement was made alongside the unveiling of the comprehensive ‘Telangana Tourism Policy 2025-2030’ on Wednesday, a strategic blueprint expected to create approximately 90,000 new jobs in the state.

A Festive Start and Strategic Vision

The tourism department is set to begin the new year with a vibrant series of international events in January. The lineup includes an International Kite and Sweet Festival with participants from 19 countries, a hot air balloon festival featuring European flyers, and a spectacular drone show at Hyderabad's Gachibowli stadium. Beyond the festivities, officials outlined a long-term vision for a sustainable, community-driven tourism network by 2047. A key step towards this is the forthcoming launch of a dedicated medical tourism society. Furthermore, the planning for 27 special tourism areas across the state is currently underway.

Investment Inflows and Infrastructure Push

The government revealed that a significant portion of the investment boost, ₹15,279 crore, was facilitated through 30 projects pledged at the Tourism Conclave 2025. An additional ₹7,045 crore was attracted during the Telangana Rising Global Summit. International investors like Foodlink Global Centre, Sarus Infra, and Smart Mobility have committed to projects in the convention, cultural, and wellness sectors.

On the infrastructure front, substantial progress has been reported. Out of 123 initiated state projects, 78 have been completed. Projects worth ₹275 crore are advancing under central schemes such as Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and PRASHAD. These include developing an eco-tourism zone at Ananthagiri Hills and an experiential zone at Bhongir Fort. To boost water tourism, the department has launched ‘Muchukunda’, a 120-seater double-deck boat on the iconic Hussainsagar lake in Hyderabad.

The Roadmap for 2026 and Beyond

The state has also laid out an ambitious ‘2026 Roadmap’ focusing on high-tech engagement and niche tourism markets. A key initiative is the full operationalisation of a heli-tourism circuit connecting Hyderabad, Somasila, and Srisailam. A standout feature of the plan is the development of world-class, premium wedding destinations at sites like Nagarjunasagar, Baswapur, and Somasila. This move strategically aims to capture a share of the lucrative global destination weddings market, positioning Telangana as a premier choice for high-end nuptial celebrations.

With robust investment, clear policy direction, and a focus on unique experiences, Telangana is poised for a transformative journey in tourism, aiming to become a top destination for both domestic and international travellers while generating significant employment for its residents.
