Kerala Tourism Launches National Photo Exhibition 'Lenscape Kerala'

Kerala's tourism department is launching a major photo exhibition titled Lenscape Kerala. The exhibition opens at the Travancore Palace Art Gallery in New Delhi on January 20. It will feature 100 carefully curated photographs taken by ten leading travel and media photographers from across India.

Exhibition Details and National Tour

Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate the event. After its debut in Delhi, the exhibition will travel to nine other cities throughout the country. The tour includes major metros and state capitals. The final stop will be in Surat, where the exhibition concludes on March 31.

Showcasing Kerala's Diversity

The exhibition aims to present Kerala as more than just a tourist destination. It captures the state's vivid landscapes, rich culture, and collective memories through the lenses of the participating photographers. Each photographer spent five days traveling through different regions of Kerala. They covered a wide range of themes including nature, wildlife, heritage sites, rural life, coastal communities, architecture, festivals, and spiritual practices.

Curatorial Team and Vision

Eminent art curator and critic Uma Nair has curated the exhibition. Renowned wildlife and conservation photographer Balan Madhavan serves as the director of photography. Minister Riyas described Lenscape Kerala as a moving platform that carries the warmth of the land across India. He stated it honors the state's cultural diversity and pluralism. The exhibition also acts as a guide for travelers, highlighting forests, hills, backwaters, places of worship, and festivals. These elements position Kerala as an experiential tourism destination with multiple choices for visitors.
