IndiGo to Launch Kanpur-Navi Mumbai Flights by Jan-End, Eyes Ahmedabad & Pune
IndiGo to Connect Kanpur with Navi Mumbai by Month-End

In a significant boost to air connectivity for the industrial city, IndiGo Airlines is gearing up to launch a direct flight service between Kanpur and Navi Mumbai by the end of January. This move comes as a response to the growing passenger traffic from the region.

New Route and Agreement Signed

The decision was formalized through an agreement signed between the airline and the civil aviation minister. Currently, IndiGo operates only one daily flight from Kanpur to Mumbai. The new service to Navi Mumbai's airport will provide a dedicated and more convenient link for travelers heading specifically to that burgeoning economic hub.

Expansion Plans: Ahmedabad and Pune on the Radar

The expansion does not stop with Navi Mumbai. Discussions are actively underway to introduce flights from Kanpur to Ahmedabad and Pune as well. If plans proceed smoothly, services to these two major cities could commence as early as February. The final schedule for these routes is expected to be announced soon.

Confirming the developments, Airport Director Pradeep Yadav stated, "The schedule for the new flight to Navi Mumbai will be released by January-end. Discussions are also ongoing for flights to Ahmedabad and Pune."

A Boost for Industry and Commuters

The announcement has been welcomed by local business and industry representatives. Atul Seth, General Secretary of the Provincial Industries Association (PIA), highlighted the dual benefit of this connectivity push. He remarked, "This is a positive step for Kanpur's industrial sector and common people. Now, people will not have to go through Mumbai to reach Navi Mumbai," eliminating a layer of hassle for business and leisure travelers alike.

This network expansion by IndiGo is seen as a crucial step in integrating Kanpur more closely with key commercial and industrial centers across India, facilitating easier travel and potentially boosting economic exchanges.
