Almatti Transforms into a Thriving Pre-Wedding Photoshoot Destination
Almatti, located in the Vijayapura district of Karnataka, is rapidly gaining recognition as a premier hub for pre-wedding photoshoots. Traditionally celebrated for its theme-based gardens, scenic dam views, and water parks, this picturesque town is now drawing couples with its innovative and curated photography studios.
Diverse Backdrops and Studio Innovations
Couples visiting Almatti can choose from a wide array of meticulously designed backdrops, including enchanting moonlight settings, replicas of the iconic Taj Mahal, rustic forest jeeps, and vintage antique scooters. These options are available at three to four dedicated studios that have sprung up in the area. These new attractions complement existing popular locations such as the Mughal Garden, Rock Garden, Sita Van, and Lava-Kusha Garden, enhancing Almatti's appeal as a comprehensive wedding photography destination.
Interestingly, some local garage owners have ventured into this creative industry, establishing studios that offer pre-wedding shoot services at more economical rates compared to similar facilities in Maharashtra. These entrepreneurs are proactive in regularly updating their backdrops and themes with each season to keep offerings fresh and engaging. Following Honnavar, Almatti has emerged as the only destination in the region that comprehensively caters to the pre-wedding photography needs of brides, grooms, and their families.
Entrepreneurial Success Stories
Shivalingappa Vitthal Muramatti, proprietor of Pooja Pre-Wedding Set, shared his journey from engineering work to photography entrepreneurship. With over two decades in engineering, he initially dismissed the idea suggested by his son-in-law, Niranjan Malgondi, an electrical engineer based in Pune. However, his youngest son, Abhishek, a diploma holder, along with his two daughters, launched the pre-wedding facility on a pilot basis in December on their 40x60-ft site during his absence.
"The response was overwhelming, which prompted us to take it up seriously," Muramatti explained. He noted that while Almatti's gardens are a major attraction, couples often struggled to find fire camp-style scenes. To address this, the family ingeniously created a floating bridge using PVC pipes. Around the same time, a team from Karwar conducting a silt survey in the backwaters sold two boats to Muramatti for Rs 50,000 along with the license, avoiding a Rs 90,000 transportation cost. "We now receive between 10 and 50 pre-wedding shoot parties a day during the marriage season," he added.
Growing Popularity and Customer Insights
Vilas Melmani, proprietor of Abhi Film City in Almatti, highlighted that the town is attracting brides and grooms from six to seven districts in the North Karnataka region. "Since there was a heavy rush in the current wedding season, we preferred booking in the interest of couples. Night fire camp, lighting, fibre set, White House, daytime and night-time lighting are much-demanded scenes here," he asserted. While Almatti gardens attract about 50 couples per day in peak season, studios see fewer visitors, with some couples bringing their parents along for the shoot.
Ashlesha and Ajit, a couple who recently used Almatti's services, shared that Honnavar was previously the only spot for such pre-wedding shoots. "It was taking more time for travel and was costly. It is good that we are getting such studios in Almatti," they said, emphasizing the convenience and affordability of the new options.
