SGPC Appeals for United Sikh Front on Sacred Text Protection Law

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has issued a compelling appeal to leaders of all Sikh organizations across the nation, urging their attendance at a pivotal panthic gathering scheduled for April 6. This meeting is specifically convened to deliberate on a law currently being framed by the government, designed to prevent incidents of sacrilege against the Guru Granth Sahib.

Official Call for Collective Consultation

In a formal release issued from Amritsar on Sunday, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami emphasized the critical nature of this assembly. He announced that the gathering will be held at the Teja Singh Samundri Hall, which serves as the headquarters of the SGPC. Dhami underscored that the issue at hand is not only extremely important but also deeply sensitive for the entire Sikh community.

Dhami stated, "This matter requires a unified approach. It is imperative that we develop a collective panthic opinion after thorough consultation with all Sikh organizations. The Guru Granth Sahib is our eternal Guru, and any proposed legislation concerning it must be examined in meticulous detail."
