Fraudsters Offer Re-NEET Paper, Hack Passwords; 3 Arrested

Three individuals were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, for allegedly defrauding students by promising to provide the question paper for the Re-NEET examination scheduled for June 21. The fraudsters operated through Telegram channels, luring aspirants with claims of access to the exam paper.

Modus Operandi

According to officials, the accused created multiple Telegram groups and channels where they advertised the sale of the Re-NEET question paper. Interested students were asked to pay a fee, after which the fraudsters would hack their passwords and gain unauthorized access to their devices. The cybercriminals used sophisticated techniques to compromise the security of the victims' accounts.

Arrest and Investigation

The arrests were made following a joint operation by the Kota police and cybercrime units. The accused have been identified as residents of Kota, a city known as a coaching hub for medical and engineering entrance exams. Authorities have recovered electronic devices and evidence linking the suspects to multiple fraudulent transactions.

Police are investigating the extent of the scam, including the number of victims and the total amount defrauded. They have urged students to remain vigilant and report any suspicious offers or messages related to exam papers.

Warning to Students

Officials emphasized that the National Testing Agency (NTA) does not release question papers before exams, and any such claims are fraudulent. Students are advised to avoid engaging with unknown sources and to protect their passwords and personal information.
