Art Forms Explained

Gujarat Kalamkari is a traditional art created using age-old methods on fabric, known for its detailed and vibrant designs. Mata ni Pachedi, which translates to ‘Behind the Mother Goddess’ in Gujarati, is a sacred art form where stories of goddesses are painted on textiles using natural colors. Both art forms are invaluable treasures of Gujarat’s cultural heritage, reflecting deep devotion, exceptional skill, and narrating the region’s rich historical tapestry.

These workshops aim to not only teach the techniques but also to highlight the cultural significance and historical narratives embedded in these traditional arts, fostering a greater appreciation among participants in Udupi.
