The city of Ahmedabad has once again blossomed its way into the global spotlight, achieving a spectacular double feat at the 14th edition of its International Flower Show. The event, orchestrated by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, witnessed the creation of not one, but two new Guinness World Records, marking a glorious hat-trick of records for the annual floral extravaganza.
A Floral Hat-Trick for Ahmedabad
This year's achievements build upon a legacy of floral grandeur. In 2024, the show secured a record for the Longest Flower Structure, followed by the title for the World's Largest Flower Bouquet in 2025. The 2026 edition has now raised the bar even higher, adding two more prestigious titles to Ahmedabad's name. The show was officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday and is set to captivate visitors until January 22nd at the Sabarmati Riverfront Event Centre.
Record-Breaking Floral Art: The Stunning Details
The first record was set for crafting the World's Largest Flower Mandala. This breathtaking circular design measured approximately 33.6 meters in diameter, covering a colossal total area of 886.79 square meters. This impressive creation shattered the previous minimum benchmark, which stood at 706.86 square meters. To ensure absolute accuracy in measurement, officials employed the high-precision Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS).
The second record was claimed for the World's Largest Flower Portrait, dedicated to India's iconic leader, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This majestic portrait stretched 41.17 meters in length and 8 meters in width, encompassing an area of 329.4 square meters. The scale of this tribute is monumental, considering the previous benchmark in this category was a mere 50 square meters.
A Testament to Civic Pride and Artistic Vision
The successful establishment of these two records is more than just a statistical victory; it is a vibrant testament to community effort, meticulous planning, and artistic vision. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's consistent ability to organize such large-scale, record-setting events highlights the city's growing stature as a hub for innovative cultural exhibitions. The use of flowers, a symbol of beauty and impermanence, to create lasting world records adds a layer of profound artistry to the achievement.
These records not only bring international recognition to Ahmedabad but also boost tourism and local pride. They showcase a perfect blend of tradition, art, and modern event management, setting a new standard for public exhibitions in India and across the globe.
