Bengaluru Beauty Clinic Faces Police Case Over Instagram Lure and Alleged Skin Damage
Bengaluru Clinic Police Case Over Instagram Ad Skin Treatment

A disturbing case has emerged from Bengaluru where a beauty clinic in Nagarbhavi, located in the western part of the city, is now facing serious police charges. The controversy stems from an Instagram lure that allegedly misled a customer, leading to accusations of cheating, harassment, and threats.

Instagram Reel Promises Risk-Free Skin Solutions

The incident began when a 27-year-old teacher from Beguru came across an Instagram reel uploaded by an individual identified as Chaithanya. This reel aggressively promoted various skin treatments targeting common issues such as pimples, acne, and pimple marks. It boldly claimed that the clinic offered risk-free results and was operated by a certified cosmetologist, which caught the attention of the complainant.

Treatment Leads to Severe Skin Reactions

Enticed by these promises, the woman visited the clinic on October 7, 2025, and underwent the recommended skin treatment. She paid a substantial amount of Rs 17,000 for the services and products provided. As part of the treatment package, she received several skincare items including a glow-boosting moisturiser, a hydrating sunscreen lotion, a night cream, and a brightening face wash.

However, instead of the promised improvements, the woman allegedly developed severe adverse skin reactions shortly after using these products. Her complaint details symptoms such as pimples, intense itching, noticeable swelling, and persistent pain. When she reported these issues to the clinic staff, they advised her to discontinue all products except the night cream and brightening face wash. Unfortunately, her condition reportedly worsened despite following this advice.

Alleged Harassment and Threats Follow Complaints

The situation escalated when the woman returned to the clinic on November 21 to confront the staff about her deteriorating skin condition. According to her complaint, the cosmetologist and her husband responded by allegedly humiliating her and issuing threats. This confrontation added emotional distress to her physical suffering, prompting her to seek legal recourse.

Police Register Case Under Multiple BNS Sections

In response to the complaint, the Annapoorneshwarinagar police have taken swift action. A senior police officer confirmed that a formal case has been registered against the clinic under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include Section 318 for cheating, Section 351 for criminal intimidation, and Section 352 for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace. Investigations are currently ongoing to gather further evidence and determine the full extent of the allegations.

This case highlights growing concerns about misleading advertisements on social media platforms, particularly in the beauty and wellness industry. It serves as a cautionary tale for consumers to thoroughly research clinics and treatments before committing to expensive procedures. Authorities are urging the public to report similar incidents to prevent such occurrences in the future.
