Ranchi: Two individuals, including a member of the Sujit Sinha gang, have been arrested in connection with the shooting of high court advocate Babban Prasad under Ratu police station limits in October 2024. SP (rural) Gaurav Goswami announced on Friday that the accused were identified as Prasad’s cousin, Anuj Kumar Mehta, and the shooter, Gulshan Kumar.
Arrests Made Based on Technical Inputs
The SP stated that officers were recently directed to apprehend the criminals. Based on technical inputs, both suspects were arrested from Palamu on Wednesday. They were subsequently sent to judicial custody on Thursday.
Motive Behind the Attack
Goswami explained, “A dispute over ancestral land between Prasad and his cousin led the latter to hire Gulshan for killing the advocate.” This revelation sheds light on the personal nature of the crime.
Recovery of Weapons
The bike and pistol used in the crime were seized by police two months after the incident during an operation against the gang under Chainpur police station limits.
